Cheek Fillers / Augmentation

Over time and with such factors as weight loss or stress, the cheek area can lose its natural plumpness and become sunken and sallow. The natural appearance of full cheeks can be restored with semi-permanent dermal filler.

The filler is injected into the epidermis and naturally restores the lost volume.

How do I prepare for cheek augmentation / filler treatment

Do nothing differently.  Just go about your day to day activities as normal.  Your skin will be cleaned at the time of the procedure so try not to use any products or cosmetics.

We will determine what requires treating and develop a plan with you.  If something cannot be treated, we will try and be as realistic as possible.

For cheek filler treatments we will inject local anaesthetic into the area. This will sufficiently numb the skin, so that the injections are not painful.  The needles used for dermal fillers are very thin, so this helps reduce pain.

How do cheek fillers work

The gel-like solution is injected into the skin to add volume and creates a more youthful appearance. The hyaluronic acid draws water to the area which helps support and hydrate the skin and also encourages the formation of new collagen in the area.

How many cheek dermal filler treatment sessions will I need

The dermal filler injections usually last 12-18 months. They are all fully biodegradable and will break down gradually over time.  As the absorption times differ with individuals, how the area looks and feels is the best indicator that a top-up is needed.

Are there side effects of cheek dermal fillers

There are very few reported side effects with these products, bruising being the most common as with any injections. This is usually minimal and can be covered effectively with make up.

You must mention to your practitioner if you are taking any blood thinning medications ie. aspirin or warfarin as one would be at higher risk of bruising.  However, this does not mean that we cannot proceed, it just mean we will take extra care to minimise bruising.” ”>
